Gum Disease in Dracut
Healthy gums are the foundation for a healthy mouth. At Dadiala Family Dentistry, we treat periodontal and gum disease to resolve deep-seated issues and protect your teeth from the damaging effects of plaque. Whether you’re entering the initial stages of gum disease or facing a more advanced case, our experienced team will continue to work with you until we have cleared up plaque and restored your gums to health.
Signs of Gum Disease
Periodontal disease can start silently, wearing away at your oral health without you even knowing it. As it progresses, you may notice subtle symptoms like bleeding gums and bad breath.
If left untreated, plaque can migrate further down to the root of the tooth, upsetting the structures that hold your teeth in place. Long term, these supporting structures may move, leading to loose teeth, infections in the tooth, and ultimately teeth falling out.
Prevent Tooth Loss and Surgery
The later stages of gingivitis require more expensive and invasive surgeries to repair. Patients with ongoing cases of gum disease are not good candidates for implants. It’s important to treat the gums as soon as possible. If you already have missing teeth, this will broaden your treatment options.
Cleaning out Deep Pockets of Plaque
At every new patient’s first appointment, we review gum health to check for any signs of plaque buildup. If we notice a problem, we’ll evaluate the stage of disease and schedule you for about two to four appointments, depending on severity.
The extensive plaque accumulation requires deeper cleaning than what we perform during an average checkup. After your initial appointments, we’ll follow up with you at a three-month review to see whether treatment has worked, revisiting the issue if necessary.
Once we’re able to put you back on a regular schedule of six-month checkups, we’ll keep an eye on your gums and educate you on improved oral hygiene so you’re not facing the same problems later on.
